The UN Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-Moon, is set to arrive Nigeria today to begin a two-day official visit.
Mr Ki-Moon is expected, to among others, meet with President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock Villa on Monday.
The UN chief’s visit coincides with the commemoration of a deadly attack on the UN building in Abuja by Boko Haram militants.
Ban will lay a wreath to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the car bombing at the United Nations House, the headquarters for around 400 UN employees that left 21 dead on August 26, 2011.
The visit will be KI-Moon’s second since taking office in 2007. He last visited Nigeria in May 2011 to discuss the crises in Southern Sudan and Libya with then President Goodluck Jonathan.
An itinerary released by the UN Information Centre, Lagos, said during the visit, he is also scheduled to hold talks with state governors.
The dialogue with the governors, the itinerary showed, will hold under the theme: `Pathways to a New Nigeria – the Role of Sub-national Governments.’
Ki-Moon would later in the day have lunch with members of the business community.
The lunch time conversation will be on: `The role of Nigeria business and the economy in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and addressing climate change.”
He is also billed to take part in series of activities, including a visit to immunisation centres and a dialogue on democracy, human rights and countering violent extremism, before departing Nigeria later on Monday.

ok na dis news wae de happen for lag: See yourselves as today's leaders, Ambode tells youths

Lagos - Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Thursday urged youths to see themselves as today's leaders and demonstrate high sense of responsibility.
Ambode, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, gave the advice when a group, "Do the Dream Youth Development Initiative,’’ paid a visit to the Lagos House, Alausa.
He charged the youth to refrain from acts that were against the principles of good leadership and be actively involved in the process of executing the change agenda in the country.
''Youths are the greatest human resource and change agents of any nation.
''The heroic contributions of the youth population to making the change agenda a reality cannot be over emphasised, therefore, they must be actively involved.

''The current economic situation in our country has impacted negatively on our youths, especially in terms of high rate of unemployment.
''Rather than despair, this situation should bring out the best in your creative minds.
''Our responsibility as government is to create the enabling environment and support for youths to succeed, which is why we created the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment.
''I urge you to take advantage of the Ministry to showcase your ideas and empower yourselves toward promoting change in the society,'' he said.
Earlier, Mr Olutayo Olumadewa, founder of the youth initiative, said that the group was formed in 2008 to help youths find their voice and excel in life.
Olumadewa commended the state government for creating the enabling environment for youths in the state, as well granting them listening ears.
He urged the government to do more in the area of funding youth programmes and activities.
In his remarks, Mr Akeem Muri-Okunola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, said that the engagement and participation of youth was essential to achieve sustainable human development.
Muri-Okunola said that developmental programmes and activities were important to transform and mould youths into successful citizens.

NASA's Cassini probe is about to plunge to its doom — and its fiery death may be visible to telescopes on Earth

NASA's Cassini probe has orbited Saturn for over a decade. This Friday, scientists will steer it into the gas giant's atmosphere. NASA/JPL-Caltech/Space Science Institute After 13 years in orbit around Saturn, NASA's Cassini spacecraft is about to plunge itself into the planet's atmosphere and disintegrate. NASA decided to put an end to the mission on Friday because the probe is almost out of fuel. Cassini has provided exquisite details about the second-largest planet in our solar system. Take the hurricanes at Saturn's poles, for example. "These hurricanes are large enough they'd cover about half the continental United States, about 50 times larger than a typical Earth hurricane," says Cassini project scientist Linda Spilker of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Then there are the remarkable, hexagonal-shaped jet s...
